Lachen om het circus
"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno":
"In order to honor former President Ronald Reagan, Sen. John Kerry has suspended his presidential campaign for five days. Ralph Nader also announced that he's suspending his campaign, not because of Reagan, he just doesn't have an supporters."
"Saturday is the senior President Bush's 80th birthday and he's going ahead with plans to skydive into his Texas presidential library. George W. Bush may attend and, of course, he's nervous. As he always is when he goes near a library."

"The Daily Show with Jon Stewart":
"Both Sen. Kerry and President Bush have scaled their campaigns back this week while the media devotes itself exclusively to a 24-hour commemorative orgy over the passing of Ronald Reagan. Bush will deliver a eulogy at Reagan's state funeral Friday, while Kerry says he plans to use this unexpected time off doing 'some office work that has been neglected as he travels around the country.' Office work. You know. Order some office supplies. Approve expense reports. Figure out what he actually stands for — maybe put it into a speech or something. Gonna be a busy week."
"Still, as tough as the week off will be on Kerry's campaign, the hiatus will be hardest on presidential hatchet man Karl Rove, who will be spending the week kicking puppies and tripping blind kids in order to, quote, 'Stay sharp.'"
"Reagan's death at first prompted speculation campaign ads might be pulled for the week. The Kerry team decided not to, partly because their current spots are not negative. The Bush campaign is also proceeding as planned, and will be airing attack ads throughout the week ... because the Gipper would have wanted it that way."
