Rechter als overloper

Een trouwe Republikein uit Minnesota en een rechter van het hooggerechtshof van die staat, Ed Stringer, heeft 2000 dollar als donatie overgemaakt aan John Kerry. Stringer was benoemd door vader Bush als advocaat voor het ministerie van onderwijs in 1989. De Republikeinse gouverneur van Minnesota benoemde hem in 1994 als lid van het hooggerechtshof.
Stringer werd om een reactie gevraagd en zei: "This is really just a very personal feeling on my part that the current administration simply did not represent the direction of the country that I would like to go. There's hardly anything that this current administration has done that I would stand up and salute, including tax cuts and right down the line." President Bush zal niet staan te juichen bij zulke uitspraken.
