Ondanks de verkiezingsretoriek rond het outsourcen van arbeid naar lage-lonenlanden, zit het er dik in dat ook onder president John Kerry de stroom van banen naar vooral Aziatische landen gewoon door zal gaan. Volgens vertegenwoordigers van de IT-bedrijven in India, de National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), zal het bij retoriek blijven. Woordvoerder Kiran Karnik: "If you know the track history of Senator Kerry he is a supporter of free trade. Kerry must address the issue of unemployment and job-creation (but) his focus will not be at our cost. […] Recent research has shown that job loss due to outsourcing in the US is very small and it benefits all the corporations who outsource."
Mukul Aggarwal, vice-president van Unisys India, dat veel werk voor Amerikaanse bedrijven doet: "The US is the biggest votary of free trade and free economy. They just cannot close the tap. The other fact is that in the US there is a shortage of trained manpower. […] Long-term demographics is in favour of India and China." Volgens onderzoeksbureau Forrester Research zullen in de komende 15 jaar meer dan 3 miljoen Amerikaanse banen naar Azië verdwijnen. Volgens de regering van India is het ook helemaal geen probleem voor de VS.
